Growth Inhibition of Clostridium Feseri by Carcinostatic Purine and Pyrimidine Analogs. I. Effect of Medium on Growth Inhibition.
نویسندگان
چکیده
Clostridium feseri (chuavoei), ATCO-10092, grows well in a semi-synthetic basal medium devoid of purine bases and folic acid. Growth inhibition of this organism in such a medium by carcinostatic purine analogs is pronounced, and by pyrimidine analogs marked. Purines in the medium block the growth inhibition of Clostridium feseri by purine analogs. Greater agreement occurs between the growth inhibition of the organism and Adenocarcinoma 755 when carcinostatic purine and pyrimidine analogs are studied in purineless media as compared with complex thioglycollate medium.

In all biological systems growth is defined as increase of chemical compounds. Bacteria can achieve to balanced growth if they are growing in a medium, which are completely adapted to it. Clostridium chauvoei, (Clostridium feseri) is an anaerobic, spore forming, motile, and polymorph bacteria, which its size varies from 0.5-1 to 3-8 micron and could be observed as individual bacterium, diplo, a...
متن کاملThe Metabolism of Pyrazolo(3,4-Ã-/)pyrimidines by the Rat't
The recent development of a new series of carcinostatic purine analogs, the pyrazolo(3,4-d)pyrimidines (5), has led to their study as substrates and inhibitors of certain purine oxidation systems in vitro (1,4). In the course of these studies, it was observed that purified xanthine oxidase incubated in vitro with 4-aminopyrazolo(3,4-d)pyrimidine (pyrazoloadenine) resulted in its oxidation to 4a...
متن کاملEffects of copper oxide nanoparticles on the growth of Chlorella vulgaris
The increase of copper oxide nanoparticle (CuO-NP) utilization in industry during recent years has resulted in their entry into aquatic ecosystems. In light of this fact, we have studied the toxicity of CuO-NPs at various concentrations on Chlorella vulgaris using an algal growth inhibition test (OECD201). Chlorella vulgaris was grown in positive Zander (Z-8 + N) media in a growth chamber. Afte...

Background and purpose: Dramatic increase in antibiotic-resistant bacteria highlights the need for new compounds with more effective antibacterial properties and biotechnology could be useful in producing these metabolites. The present study aimed at investigating the effects of rhamnolipid microbial surfactants in a cream-based formulation on growth inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus using in...
متن کاملANTISENSE RNA TO THE TYPE I INSULIN-LIKE GROWTH FACTOR RECEPTOR REVERSED THE TRANSFORMED PHENOTYPE OF PC-3 HUMAN PROSTATE CANCER CELL LINE IN VITRO
The insulin-like growth factor I receptor (IGF-IR) plays an essential role in the establishment and maintenance of transformed phenotype. Interference with the IGF-IR pathway by antisense causes reversal of the transformed phenotype in many rodent and human tumor cell lines. We stably transfected the PC-3 human prostate cancer cell line with an IGF-IR antisense RNA expression plasmid. The ...
